Every little bit together - can make a big difference. We encourage everyone to do whatever they can to make their own green choices.
- Offer local, all natural, organic, and/or fair trade foods and other products
- Providing a site for community supported agriculture (CSA) drop-offs
- Offer incentives for employees to join a CSA or shop local farmers markets
- Establish a company-wide recycling program and educational efforts (paper, metal, plastic, glass, scrap, batteries, hazardous materials, etc.)
- Reuse of any materials for other business needs
- Reduce the amount of resources used company-wide
- Utilizing double-sided printing
- Composting of food scraps
- Donating excess food or products to local shelters and pantries
- Donating and/or recycling old items before renovations or new equipment purchases
- Use hybrid or alternative fueled cars for company travel
- Encourage employees to carpool, walk, and bike to and from work
- Encourage the use of telecommuting and video conferencing
- Purchasing carbon offsets for travel
- Make conservation and environmental awareness part of employee training
- Train employees to discourage the use of plastic/paper bags by asking if customers really need them
- Encourage participation in local Natural Step study circles or memberships in environmentally-related groups
- Provide employees with ideas on how to live greener at home and in their personal lives
- Change all lighting to compact fluorescents and/or LEDs
- Replace older HVAC systems with more efficient models
- Replace leaking faucets and old toilets with water conserving models
- Proper insulation and weatherization
- Use of ENERGYSTAR rated appliances and electronics
- Use of reclaimed and recycled materials in new building projects
- Use of low-VOC paints, carpets, etc.
- Use of Forest Stewardship Council certified wood in new projects
- Purchasing renewable energy from energy provider
